ENGINEERING STEEL
EN24 Round Bars
Product Overview
EN24 is a very high-strength steel alloy that is supplied hardened and tempered.
VERY HIGH STRENGTH
The grade is a nickel chromium molybdenum combination - this offers high tensile steel strength, with good ductility and wear resistance characteristics. With relatively good impact properties at low temperatures, EN24 is also suitable for a variety of elevated-temperature applications.
Key features:
• Very high-strength steel alloy
• Easy to heat treat and temper
• Supplied hardened & tempered
• Good combination of strength, ductility and wear resistance
SUITABILITY
EN24 engineering steel is easy to treat and temper and is supplied hardened and tempered. The alloy offers a good combination of strength, ductility, and wear resistance. It is a very high-strength alloy engineering steel.

TYPICAL APPLICATIONS
When first becoming more prevalent back in the early 1900s EN24 was classified as a wrought steel for automobiles and aircraft and as such was used to produce numerous parts and components for these industries. It is most popular as EN24T and with good high tensile properties in T condition, it is used widely in the manufacturing sector. Some examples of applications include:-
• Power transmission gears and other gears requiring maximum hardness.
• Cranks, axles, propellors, and gearbox shafts require good high tensile properties.
• Connecting rods, special cranks, and other parts required to be stiff and yet retain a high degree of toughness.
• Bolts, screwed parts, stub axles, and swivel arms required very tough.
• Plastics and rubber molding industry parts for molds, hob retaining rings and stop pins.
• Structural components with good high tensile needs.
